St Alphonsus Liguori: The Most Zealous Doctor of the Church, and founder of the Redemptorists. A talk by Fr Royston Price CSSR at CathSoc night on Wednesday 15th June.
Fr Royston writes: I was brought up in the Welsh Marches, on a farm near the town of Monmouth, and read Theology at Lampeter. I came from an Anglican family, but thanks to a positive witness by Catholic students at university I was eventually received into the Church in a Benedictine-run parish. I came to love the person and spirituality of St Alphonsus Liguori, and applied to join the London Province of the Congregation that he founded. My formation has taken place in Liverpool, London, Toronto, and Harare, and after ordination in 2020 I was assigned to our community and parish in the North of Birmingham. I’m the Vocations Director for Great Britain, so I spend a lot of my weekends up and down the country preaching about vocations, and I’ve found the time to help with a couple of parish missions as well.
